Inspired by how our iced tea keeps Scott, a front-end web developer and member of the professional a cappella group, Overboard, running every day, we scheduled a time to check-in with this dedicated Boston area Foursquare Mayor to talk tea and what keeps him checking in on Foursquare.

Q: So Scott, when did you first discover Dunkin’ Donuts’ iced tea?

A: Around four to five years ago. I don’t drink coffee, so when I came in to Dunkin’ Donuts, I started getting iced tea to pair with food and now I’m hooked. It’s refreshing and flavorful and tastes great either alone, or with food.

Q: Do you switch between hot and iced tea?

A: No, I have to drink iced tea regardless of the season! Even in the winter I crave it!

Q: Congratulations on your Foursquare Mayorship. Why is the Dunkin’ Donuts location in the Prudential Center your favorite?

A: Thanks! It’s close to work, but the crew here is great. They recognize me when I come in and they’re friendly. They also make a great iced tea. It’s important for it to be consistent and the refreshing flavor that I have come to expect and they always deliver.

Q: On Foursquare you can leave tips at the locations you check-in at. Do you have any tips to share with DD fans who visit this restaurant?

A: Yes! Don’t be afraid to get to know your crew members. Even if you only come once a week, or a few times per week, be friendly. Say hello! While I come to this Dunkin’ Donuts a lot, I think the real reason they all remember me is because I say hi, or thank them by name when I come in.

Q: Being the Mayor of a location on Foursquare is a big matter of pride to some. Do you ever worry about losing the title to another dedicated DD fan?

A: Earning – and holding onto – my Mayorship at this busy Dunkin’ Donuts is no small feat! Between all of the companies, restaurants and retail stores in the Prudential Center, it is something I think about. I am definitely committed to keeping my Mayorship and do worry that someone may take the title from me when I go on vacation. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen!

Q: If Mayors could make laws, what would you make and why?

A: I like to fly under the radar, but I do try to lead by example. I try to get through the line quickly, but believe in engaging in friendly chatter with the crew and thanking them for my iced tea!
